We’ve been a wellness destination for centuries because of our powerfully therapeutic waters that are packed with soothing minerals like bicarbonate, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Unlike many hot springs, our waters don’t have a lingering sulfur smell as they bubble up from an ancient volcano. At our namesake soaking spot, five pleasantly hot outdoor hot pools are sublimely soothing year round. Get a Bird’s-Eye View.
There’s no better way to take in the gorgeous natural scenery than through the Lava Hot Springs Zip Line Adventure. Their unmistakable vintage Army truck will whisk you to a private canyon where you’ll soar along thousands of feet of zip line. When you’re done, have a blast on their high ropes course, geodesic dome, and climbing wall.

Downtown is Delightful.
Our charming, turn-of-the-century downtown is packed with cozy eateries, locally-owned shops, and the friendliest folks you’ll have the pleasure of meeting. It’s walkable (no car needed!), welcoming, and features a vibrant nightlife and plenty of dining options. Discover locally-made art, textiles, jewelry, and gifts at downtown’s small businesses, or rent recreational equipment from downtown retailers before heading out on your next adventure.
Float America’s Best River for Tubing.
Grab an inner tube and hit USA Today’s Best River for Tubing! The wild Portneuf River flows through the heart of town, and includes a stretch of floatable rapids that offer thrills hour after hour. Mid-May to mid-September is the season for river lovers, so BYO or rent your tube from one of several outfitters in town.
History Is Alive Here.
The South Bannock County Historical Center Museum offers permanent and rotating exhibits about our amazing corner of the country. Your journey through time will begin with the Shoshone-Bannock people, who called this area Poha-Ba, or “Land of Healing Waters.”
