The Lava Hot Springs Fire & Ice Winterfest is held each year over the first full weekend of February in the quaint resort town of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, famous for its natural spring-fed hot pools. Come, bring your friends and family and celebrate winter!

Friday, February 6, 2026

Friday 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: BEER TASTING AT ERUPTION BREWING
Held at Eruption Brewery and Bistro @ 15 N 3rd East (Google Map)
Hosted by Sam and Leisha Netuschil.
Cost: $12.00 per person. Pay at the door.

Friday 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm: WINE TASTING
Hosted reception style. Registration includes up to 4 tastings from a selection of varietal wines, a commemorative wine glass and appetizers. Your favorite bottle(s) will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the session. Pick up wrist bands at the door.

Friday 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm CONCERT WITH LAYNE BOWEN
Layne is an Idaho born and raised Musician. He used to tell his kids that they could be anything they wanted when they grew up. When one asked if he was doing what he loved to do every day (like their Nurse-Mom), he decided to follow his own advice. Layne is a full time musician from Pocatello, Idaho who opened for ZZ Top in August 2025 for their show at the Port. Check out more about Layne Bowen! Pick up wrist bands at the door.

Saturday 7:30 am – 10:30 am: AMERICAN LEGION WAFFLE AND SAUSAGE BREAKFAST

Waffles, sausage, eggs, juice or coffee.

Saturday 10:00 am: RUNNING OF THE BULLS
Run in your swimming suit down Main Street starting at the Royal Hotel Pizzeria and jump in the State Foundation Pools. Line up starts at 9:30 am. Pre-purchased wrist bands will be picked up and also sold the day of the event at the Blue Jay Inn.

Saturday 11:00 am – 1:30 pm: CHILDREN’S WATER CARNIVAL
Held at the Lava Hot Springs Indoor Aquatic Center. There will be games, prizes and water fun. 12 and under are invited to attend this event and must be accompanied by an adult. This event will be held indoors at the Olympic Swimming Complex at 195 N. Center (Google Map). Sponsored by the Lava Hot Springs Foundation. Info: Call (208) 251-5230.

Saturday 11:00 am – 3:00 pm: POLAR BEAR BEER GARDEN
Held across the street from Eruption Brewery and across the bridge in West Park.

Saturday 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm: MARKET FAIR & FOOD TRUCKS
Vendors, Food Trucks, Fire & Ice merchandise and in person ticket sales for most events.

Saturday 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: POLAR BEAR COSTUME JUDGING PARTY
Wear your wackiest outfit and line up for the Polar Bear costume contest! Prizes will be awarded! Contestants must buy a Polar Bear Float ticket to win prizes. JUDGING AT 1:45 pm SHARP!
Held at West Park near the 3rd Street East Bridge. 3rd East and 1st North (Google Map)
Cost: Entry Fee included in the $15 Tube Rental fee. You may BRING YOUR OWN TUBE and pay at the event to be ONLY in the Costume Contest.

Saturday 2:00 pm: POLAR BEAR FLOAT
Wear your wackiest outfit and float ¼ mile down the ice cold Portneuf River to the Community building. See fun photos on Facebook!
Tube pick up and waiver signing will be at West Pavilion, near the beer garden. (Note! You will need to bring ID and sign a waiver in order to pick up the tube or participate in the Polar Bear Costume Judging Party with your own tube!)

Saturday 4:00 pm: PENGUIN RACE FUNDRAISER
Cost: 1 penguin for $5.00, 5 for $20.00. BUY TICKETS ONLINE NOW!

Location: 3rd Street East Bridge 3rd East and 1st North (Google Map)
Up to 1000 penguins will be dropped into the Portneuf River off the 3rd Street East Bridge and rescued by the Community Center Building. If your penguin wins you will be contacted by text, email or phone. You don’t need to be present to win.

Saturday 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm: FIRE DANCERS
Fire performers from Lava Flow Fire will entertain you through dance and acrobatics as they manipulate flaming objects to live music.
Location: Between Center St and 1st East on Main Street.

Saturday 8:00 pm: FIREWORKS
Look toward the skies for an amazing display! Fireworks will be launched from the north and south sides of the city and can be viewed nearly anywhere in town.

Saturday 8:30 pm: CASINO NIGHT
Held at the Lava Hot Springs Community Center. 150 N Center St (Google Map)

Fire & Ice Merchandise will be sold at the Veterans breakfast Saturday morning and in the Beer Garden Saturday afternoon. Fire and Ice merchandise with original Lava Chamber Fire and Ice logos will be available for purchase “only” through locations established by the Lava Chamber of Commerce at the Fire and Ice Event. The proceeds of all sales are used to support local non-profit organizations and promote events.
